z/OS Systems Programmer

The ideal candidate for this position will be an experienced z/OS Systems Programmer familiar with operating system components and zSeries hardware configurations. Responsibilities include diagnosing system and performance problems, implementing configuration changes, implementing vendor supplied software and working on project related tasks. The ability to work independently and as a member of a larger team is essential.

Major
Responsibilities:

Plan, support and manage the installation and implementation of key infrastructure and vendor supplied software products for the mainframe environment.

Perform z/OS systems programming activities and coordinate project resources required to meet software maintenance and installation schedules, to ensure software is operating at supported levels and at optimized efficiencies.

Communicate effectively with technical associates, development teams and end users throughout the organization.

Plan, organize, coordinate and manage complex technical projects, as well as providing technology strategy and leadership.

Develop, manage and prepare project plans to monitor project implementation progress, schedules and resource requirements.

Analyze technical system changes and enhancements to system software to determine impacts related to existing systems and ensure continued operations and availability of systems.

Provide technical expertise, training and coaching as needed.
Experience with the following is required;
z/OS Operating System Installation and Support
z/OS Unix Systems Services
Mainframe Software Installation and Maintenance
Strong Debugging and Problem Resolution Skills

Experience in any of the following is strongly desired;
z/OS Parallel SYSPLEX
CICS and DB2
CA-1, CA-TopSecret, CA-OPS/MVS
EMC Mainframe Storage Software
IBM Communications Server - TCP/IP
z/OS WLM and performance management
Compuware - XPEDITER, ABEND/Aid, File/Aid

Position requirements include:
Systems Programmer I - Bachelors Degree or an Associates Degree and 4
years of job related experience or High School Diploma and 8
years of job related experience.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
